IRiS Reading

IRiS Reading is an adult alcohol and drug treatment service available to anyone over the age of 18 who lives in Reading. We also have services available for family members of drug and alcohol users who need support.

Ring us on 0118 955 7333 (Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm) or come to our Open Access clinic on 127 Oxford Road with or without an appointment (Monday to Friday, 1.30pm-4.30pm).

If you have a professional from another service working with you, they can refer you by ringing us directly or by downloading the registration form here and returning it to us via:

Please let us know if you have any special requirements or would find it difficult to attend the service - if needed we can come to you.

Feel free to bring a friend or family member with you when you attend your appointment.

We offer a wide range of flexible services and support that gives you the opportunity to change, develop and find your strengths at your pace. It is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to improve their life and move away from harmful drug or alcohol use. By engaging with our service, you will move through three stages of recovery:

Stage 1: Exploring change and reduction

- Immediate health treatment

- Harm reduction; overdose prevention
- Blood borne viruses awareness
- Needle exchange
- Assessment and referral

Stage 2: Choosing change and stabilisation

- Support groups
- Drug and alcohol education
- Peer support
- Detoxification
- Substitute prescribing
- One to ones
- Testing and vaccinations (blood borne viruses and STDs)
- Hep C treatment and support

Stage 3: Maintaining change and abstinence

- Training and voluntary work
- Individual aftercare support
- Aftercare groups and activities
- Links to mutual aid
- SMART Recovery
- Wellbeing and life skills
- Sports and exercise
- Music and arts
- Literacy and numeracy
- Housing support
